2014 – 2022

Founded in 1871, the Athens Conservatoire is the oldest educational institution for music and theatre in Greece, housed since 1976, at the corner of Vassileos Gheorgiou B’ and Rigillis streets.

Designed by the late Ioannis Despotopoulos, the impressive building was only partially completed.

The building of total surface area 13,800 sq.m., consists of three statically independent buildings arranged on two upper floors and underground levels of main uses around two patios

In 2014 the architectural studies for its completion and modernization started.

The project which was completed in 2022 included a 700-seat amphitheatre, a large foyer, a multipurpose “black box”, music studios and other spaces for events.
