This is a complete renovation of an industrial space in a central location in Athens. The apartment is located in a 1970s building with mixed uses: residences, small industrial spaces, and short-term rental rooms. The project involved the creation of two apartments with the possibility of joining them together. The unique geometry of the floor, resulting from its location on the plot and the recess (penthouse), allowed for the creation of two independent apartments, each with a large bedroom and a living room with a kitchen and dining area. One of the two living rooms could be converted into a guest room.
The idea was to preserve key elements of the existing building, such as the unique floor mosaic and the large perimeter openings (whose sills were lowered) that allow the apartment to participate in the urban landscape.
The apartment was divided with a view to simple and easy movement within the space and the involvement of the interior in the perimeter terraces.
The materials were chosen to give a sense of gentle comfort, while also referring to the materials used when the building was constructed.
