Domes International review of architecture
The site lies within a residential area, with a particular topography, relatively low density, a low building scale, and a linked building system. The study was conducted in several phases during which several possibilities were explored with respect to the plot. The building was finally organized in an h-shaped plan, creating two courtyards with different character. Two types of boundaries were defined: a soft one, between the private interior and exterior spaces, and a hard one, between the private and public areas. This last one restores the continuity of the city block, while emphasizing the separations and the transitions that occur between closed and open spaces. The suspended façade serves a double role: on the one hand, it sets the boundaries and, on the other, it organizes the interior and exterior views.
