The famous shipwreck of Antikythera became known thanks to the local sponge divers.

A visual arts competition was organized to commemorate the generations of professionals who put their lives at great risk in adverse conditions.

The sculpture is to be placed at the small dock of the port. The idea behind the sculpture is to welcome the elements of nature as an installation: the horizon, the sun, the strong winds, the waves hitting the breakwater. Brass elements adorn the marble surfaces, reminiscent of the equipment used by the sponge divers.
